Surprisingly high stratus cloud ceiling

since 6 October persistent fog and high fog situation has now reached the limit in terms of spread and high fog probably peaked. Although, still not quite clear as the morning exactly expires ... Then it is definitely over with fog and high fog in the classic sense.

In any case, the cloud ceiling is already yesterday evening at about 1900 feet higher, and the heavy fog has penetrated into the inner Alpine valleys. Today, the upper limit varied between 1,700 and 2,000 meters in places. Thus it was unexpectedly high, in the prediction of the previous day due to the weakening Bise actually a decrease to about 1400 meters have been expected. A satisfactory answer to this phenomenon, I have not found yet. But may have weak effects from the low elevation, which is pulled yesterday from the Adriatic to Greece, is responsible for this "crisis".

Nevertheless, the view of the satellite imagery this morning at 9 clock is fun and shows the (fortunately) unusual distribution of the high fog. They puzzle over how all the hot white-grayish, mist-filled valleys. ... All in White are still the larger with glaciers and snow-covered regions to identify:
